You are driving to the grocery store at 20m/s. You are 110m from an intersection when the traffic light ?

turns red. Assume that your reaction time is 0.50s and that your car brakes with constant acceleration.

Q: How far are you from the intersection when you begin to apply the brakes?

Q: What acceleration will bring you to rest right at the intersection?

Q: How long does it take you to stop after the light changes?

You are driving to the grocery store at 20m/s. You are 110m from an intersection when the traffic light ?In 1/2 second you are 100 m from the white line

t = 100/((20-0)/2)=10 sec

a=(0-20)/10 m/2^2

= -2 m/s^2

10 + 0.5 = 10.50 sec
