Where is shift solenoid 1997 mustang?

Auto trans. Won't shift out of park. Brake lights work. Tried the trick on wiki about the order in which to turn key, etc. Won't shift out of park. Dealer says it's probably a bad solenoid but I can't move it out of the garage to bring it in. Have solenoid. Can't find reference to where it physically is, to change it. have 1997-2000 Mustang 'Service Repair' manual. Does not tell how to replace. Ideas?Where is shift solenoid 1997 mustang? That's not what's normally referred to as a %26quot;shift%26quot; solenoid. That would be on or in the trans if it's an electronic shift model. It's called something like an %26quot;interlock%26quot; solenoid. Should be located under the console, near the bottom of the shift lever.

Many cars also have a panel so you can access and bypass it (each time you need to shift out of park), so you don't have to pay for a tow to get it to the mechanic.
