Audi A4 1996 Tail Lights??

This sounds like a stupid question but I can't figure out how to change my Tail Light on my 1996 Audi A4. I can pull the %26quot;Lighting Cluster%26quot; off but that only gives me access to the Brake, Blinker, Reverse and Fog Light. there are two wires going from the Cluster to the light assembly that goes to the Tail Light. The only problem is you can't get to the light from the backside and I can't pull the Tail light / assembly out the little hole it is stuck in. I took the whole Light assembly out but the light assembly can't be seperated from the back part of it which is plastic and has some kind of Adhesive sealing the two. Any Ideas on how to change the Bulb? Its very frustrated because I have a %26quot;Haynes Manual%26quot; and the Owners manual and it doesn't show these tail lights it shows the Brake and Tail light as the same bulb. HELP ME PLEASE!!!! My inspection is coming up!!!!!Audi A4 1996 Tail Lights??Please take it to a dealer. That tail light assembly is sealed except for the ports through which the bulbs enter. If you are not able to get to the tail light, a professional needs to take a look at it.

I wish I had better information, but it should not be a so difficult to extract the tail light bulb.

Good Luck.Audi A4 1996 Tail Lights??For the life of me I could not figure out why you could not extract the tail light bulb. This makes sense now. Thanks for the explanation.

Audi A4 1996 Tail Lights??It is usual for the brake and tail light to be the one bulb if you look you will see it has two elements in the bulbAudi A4 1996 Tail Lights??if you can take out the brake light, it IS the same as the tail light. the bulb has 2 filaments in it. one comes on with the lights, the other comes on with the brakes. the socket with the bulb should do a quarter turn and come out of the assembly, or if i remember, it may have a back piece that comes off the back of the assembly. if needbe, you can take it to your local autoparts store (advance or autozone) and see if they can help you outAudi A4 1996 Tail Lights??The brake light bulb is a twin filament bulb.

What causes a vehicle's brake lights to behave like this?

when you turn on the head lights, the brake lights are dim as usual, but when you press the brake, one of the lights comepletely turn off even though it was working fine when it was dim. we checked the filaments and they were both intact. we even replaced with a new bulb and no changes. i've also noticed this with other older cars in traffic.

its a 91 previa.

how much to fix? or is it too complicated to fix? also, one of the devices that actually holds the light bulb for the brake is broken because 2 of the 3 wires somehow broke off it. how much do you think that would be to fix?

thanksWhat causes a vehicle's brake lights to behave like this?if 2 of the 3 wires are broken the lamp will not operate at all. If the ground wire is broken the lamp will operate normally lights on, brakes not applied, brakes applied lights off - dim light, and lights on and brakes applied there will be no light. Therefore I suspect you have a ground issue.What causes a vehicle's brake lights to behave like this?i agree ground wire broke

2000 honda civic brake leak?

Ok so last week my brake light went on and so I figured out I needed to add brake fluid. So today when I was leaving a started my car and the brake light was on again so I popped the hood to check the fluid and I noticed a big puddle near the front passanger tire. I added the fluid and had no choice but to drive and pray that I would make it safe. What could be the problem, someone told me I might just need to change the disc, how exspensive is that?2000 honda civic brake leak?The disc isn't involved. Probably a loose fitting or a cracked hose up front, fairly normal. Now, if it is a cracked hose, get both of them replaced.2000 honda civic brake leak?good news is this is an easy fix . bad news is it needs to be done by a profesional . sounds like you have a leaky caliper . if that is the case you will need to replace the caliper and go ahead and change the front brake pads while you are at it .2000 honda civic brake leak?it,s not the rotors, the rotors don,t leak but a broken hose, caliper or broken line will. it,s probably the hose going to the caliper has a hole in it.

How do I down shift in a manual transmission car?

first and foremost, 95% of the time I just put it in neutral and coast to a stop with the brakes.

I don't engine brake, even though SOME ppl insist on doing this.

The thing is, how DO I engine brake, if I ever need to do it? the closest thing I've ever done that would be comparable to downshifting is while I coast in neutral, the light changes before I come to a stop and I shift to a lower gear to accelerate again (say 2 or 3)

but when I see a red light way ahead of me, do I just press the clutch in, and down shift through ALL the gears, matching my gear with the current speed of the car? so I gotta depress the clutch, shift sequentially to the next lower gear, THEN match the clutch and flywheel together 3-5 times? sounds like like alotta unnecessary extra steps to get to the same end to me....How do I down shift in a manual transmission car?you dont need to do all this. just put it in neutral and coast. what your doing is engine braking and its not good for your transmission. unless you have a diesel with a jake brake, dont do it.How do I down shift in a manual transmission car?http://www.ehow.com/how_2076078_avoid-do this explans what you ask.. if confused ask again but i hope this link does the trick ok gilermo.How do I down shift in a manual transmission car?That's downshifting.........you don't have to, I coast to the light but in traffic it's easier to downshift.

  • How do you drive a stick shift?

    If the car is in neutral you put your foot on the brake and then press in the clutch to start the car. Then you take your foot off the brake while the clutch is pressed in all the way and move the shifter into 1st. Do you then move the clutch back about half way and then press the gas pedal in a little bit and then let off the clutch and you take off?

    I dont get it kinda. I heard that you let up off the clutch half way and while your letting up, you press the gas the same amount? I dont want to floor it! Are you supposed to let up on the clutch half way when you put it in first and then press the gas pedal down a little? I dont think you would press the gas pedal down half way with the clutch half way down and then let up off the clutch.

    Also, when theres a stop sign ahead, do you throw it in neutral and slow down then come to a stop?

    Also at a red light, lets say you are in 4th gear and you see the red light ahead. There are tons of cars behind you and you happen to throw it in neutral and all of a sudden the light changes to green. What do you do now? Do you shift it back up to 4th again? It seems to me that the car would mess up because if you shift it into 1st or 2nd gear going that high of speed it would blow the engine? Or do you not have to press the gas because its already going fast and you just press the clutch to 2nd then let off and press the cluch in again to 3rd without pressing the gas?

    IM CONFUSED! I'm getting a manual V6 mustang soon. I know about the shifting patterns and stuff its just that the part where you use the clutch while pressing the gas.How do you drive a stick shift?i own a 1987 bronco 2 its a standard my transmission is a high rpm transmission i can go 65 mph in 3rd gear. but thats me well do you have a rpm tack that will help you when to shift if you do . anyway to start when you start your car you probably have a clutch safety switch which means in order to make your starter work your clutch needs to be held in. start your car put it in 1st slowly release your clutch giving it a little gas while releasing the clutch dont hold the clutch and giving it to much gas can make you spin your clutch dont do that. when you are going to stop dont put it in neutral with newer cars like that you need to down shift when stoping or slowing down down shifting means if your doing 40 in 4th slow down by taking your foot of the gas when you slow a little even slowly apply your brake enough to down shift put clutch in put it up in 3rd release the clutch no gas needed if its a five speed you only use 5th if your 45 mph or higher its a highway gear go from 5th to 4th then slow alittle more down to about 35 then downshift to 3rd gear then from there some cars you can go to 2nd but your speed has got to be just right you dont need neutral but if it makes you feel safe then use it i would just put the brake on alittle then the clutch keep the clutch in to come to a stop if its in gear or you will kill your engine and be really embarresed you will get the hang of it once you do it for a while it if you downshift from 4th into 2nd or 1st you best be quick to press that clutch when you hear your engine start rapping really loud just put your clutch in and shift it up into whatever gear your going fast enough for it takes time to get the hang of a stick if its your everyday car you should get the hang of it asap just remember downshift to lower speeds from higher speeds and during take off not the same amount of gas as clutch a little gas to actually this might give you a idea keep your foot off the gas slowly release your clutch when your engine sounds like its going to die put your clutch back in remember how much clutch that took then release the clutch to that point and slowly give it gas letting your clutch the rest of the way out like i said a rpm tack will help you with shifting if you dont have a rpm tack listen to your engine to hear when its time to shift if your giving it gas and your not increasing speed its definatly time to shift. if you press the gas pedel down halfway with the clutch halfway down and then let up off the clutch one of three things could happen you will either spin your clutch thats not good, squeal your tires that not good , or kill your engine that not good also embarrasing well good luck to you i hope i helped there is not much i can tell you it just takes practice remember when it comes to downshifting newer transmissions need that neutral if you feel comfortable that will only speed you up and wear your brakes alot faster than downshifting get the hang of downshifting as well as your take off k goood luck to ya How do you drive a stick shift?there is no way i could explain this good enough over the computer, so all i can say is if you know someone who has an old beater car or truck with a manual trans go and learn on that. ( if they will let you lol ) its just allot better to get in and just go at it haha. thats the way i learned, cruising up and down my local fields with a crappy 5 speed plymouth laser. so yea all i can say is good luckHow do you drive a stick shift?let off the clutch...foot on the gas... clutch off the clutch foot on the gass How do you drive a stick shift?if you are confused, then i would suggest you get more driving lessons for manual. ok to answer the first question you have to find the clutch biting point and you slowly add gas carefully while letting up the clutch, you will start to move forward, easily and slowly let off the clutch to fully get it in gear, if you don't you'll stall the engine.

    2nd question answer, when you are coming to a stop you can just press on the brake and leave it in gear then at the very last moment before you stop completely push down the clutch and put it in neutral.

    And to answer the last question when u are in 4th gear slowly down at a red light, when u are in 4th gear never throw it in 1st, 2nd gear is an exception if you are still rolling, 1st gear is there to get you going from a stop, if you are still moving or rolling, keep it in 2nd gear. but yes, when u are slowly down in 4th and the light turns green while you are still rolling, then just push down on the gas pedal again since you are still at your regular speed. And since you are getting a v6 mustang soon in manual. I strongly advise you get some stick shift driving lessons, it will benefit you since you are confused about some things about stick shift and you are still learning it

    Seriously, I will pass along this bit of advise.

    Manual transmissions are not sequential gear boxes like the type in a motorcycle. One can be driving in 4th, see a red light ahead, step on the clutch, step on the brake, and as the car slows to a stop, shift directly from 4th to 1st, skipping 3rd and 2nd.

    Driving a stick shift is about skill, and knowing your machine. It just takes more skill to drive a stick, which makes you a better driver. YOU must pay attention to your driving, which will keep you from getting in accidents.

    Find an older adult that can teach you and EXPLAIN what they are doing as they drive and shift. Then you can get behind the wheel and apply what you have learned to really driving your mustang.

    I wish all cars were equipped with manual transmissions. There would be less distracted drivers on the road today.

    Hard to eat, drink, talk on a cell phone, check your e-mails on your Blackberry, or text on a cell phone when you need to shift every few seconds.How do you drive a stick shift?About the red light or stop sign, If you're in 4th gear you down shift into 3rd and then 2nd if you have to. It saves your breaks and allows you to easily take off again if the light turns green before you get to the intersection. You only use the clutch to shift gears and never put the clutch in half way, you'll burn it out.How do you drive a stick shift?Too hard to explain all that in words but you sort of have the right idea. When you get the car, go directly to some vacant ground and practice!

    btw it's not a great idea to just coast up to lights in neutral. As you decrease your speed you should be coming down through the gears. Does your license cover you for a stick shift anyway?How do you drive a stick shift?ok what you need to do is use the clutch ok and also don't grind your gears ok now the gas and clutch you you press gently on the gas as you let up on the clutch ok How do you drive a stick shift?I dunno if you deserve the V6 mustang...How do you drive a stick shift?push in clutch and shift , then let clutch outHow do you drive a stick shift? Go www.expertvillage.com they will teach you, in one of there videosHow do you drive a stick shift? When you feel the car pull as your letting up on the clutch then start to give it gas. You can also watch your tach the rpm will start to drop as the clutch starts to engage. When that happens give it some more gas and let the clutch out the rest of the way.

    When your pulling up to a light in forth it kinda depends on your speed if you still moving at a decent pace you should just downshift to 3rd.

    When your down shifting if you bump the gas a little when in neutral right before you change gears down as in 4th to like 2nd. You'll bring the motor revs back to where they should be for that gear. This keeps the car from as you put it messing up.

    For example If your on a two lane road and your wanting to pass someone quickly and say your in overdrive. You would downshift to 4th and get around alot quicker. but as your changing gears you have to bring the revs up to match the gear. This is not necessary everytime you downshift but you should learn how to do this correctly. You'll find driving a stick alot of fun especially in rear wheel drive once you learn to do it right.

    Can i driving examiner fail you if you don't do anything to cause an accident etc.?

    I am a young adult and I took my driving test last week. I didn't run any stop signs, run red lights, or go the wrong way. I made it all the way to the end of the test yet my instructor failed me. I am highly discouraged about all of this.I thought that if you made it through the entire test that you passed. The only thing that I felt that I did wrong was that when i was at the signal light I went a little too far and was not able to see the light change unless I looked up. Other than that I did very well. She also said I braked while I was in a turn. I called this lady and asked how long it will be until i could try again and she said 30 days! I am a college student and I NEED my license, not some stupid permit. I shouldn't have to wait this. According to La law it is like 10 days. Why would she say 30 days.

    Also where i live which is a small city, we don't have to make appts etc.Can i driving examiner fail you if you don't do anything to cause an accident etc.?Unfortunately, driver exams are based on a point system. You have no way of knowing exactly what she took points off for, but in case you're wondering it's definitely subject to opinion (of the instructor). You don't just have to %26quot;make it through%26quot; to pass, but normally if you don't do something really retarded, they DO pass you.

    Sounds like you got a tough instructor. You said you live in a small town, but just remember that most states you don't HAVE to go to whichever Testing Center is closest to you. Usually there's one major testing center and a few smaller ones for more suburban areas. I know here the main testing center is at the State Police station and then other towns have smaller versions.

    If you think your testing center is extra tough you're allowed to test at whatever center you want to as long as it's in the state you live in.

    I had to take an %26quot;on the road%26quot; test which a lot of people dread, but it's actually much better because it's closer to what you're used to dealing with driving on your permit as opposed to some crazy cone pattern to follow. Admittedly I actually HIT the pole parallel parking the car and still passed.

    I asked the instructor why he passed me and he said %26quot;You got the car into the parking space in less than 3 tries, which is all I asked you to do. I didn't ask you not to hit anything.%26quot;

    I know that sounds crazy but it's just an example of how much it depends on your instructor.

    Google other %26quot;Driver's license testing centers%26quot; in your area and you may feel more comfortable going to a different one. There's nothing wrong with that if you feel like you didn't get a fair shake at the first one.Can i driving examiner fail you if you don't do anything to cause an accident etc.?I know your pain but seriously suck it up.

    The driving instructor CAN fail you for absolutuly ANYTHING

    if they feel like it they can fail you because you looked at them funny or had a bad day (usually they don't tho)

    chances are this one just felt that you wernt confident enough behind the wheel.

    as for NEEDING your liscense i had the same situation (i take it your commuting) just drive with a parent until you can try again.

    and if your just complaining and dont really NEED it to get to school then be quiet because i know PLENTY of college students who dont have theirs and dont give a damn.

    (P.S. driving is not all its cracked up to be, infact it rather sucks)Can i driving examiner fail you if you don't do anything to cause an accident etc.?It's only like two weeks that you have to wait.Can i driving examiner fail you if you don't do anything to cause an accident etc.?In the UK, the examiner will usually tell you why they failed you. Did you ask your examiner why you failed? I don't have any personal experience of what happens when you fail, as i am one of those smug bast***s who passed first time. But i do have friends who failed. We don't have the option of driving around a carpark either. We have to take our test on the road. We now have a written theory test and also a hazard perception test taken in front of a computer screen.

    Physics help please???!?

    You are driving home in your 750-kg car at 15 m/s. At a point 45 m from the beginning of an intersection, you see a green traffic light change to yellow, which you expect will last 4.0 s, and the distance to the far side of the intersection is 65 m.

    If you choose to accelerate, your car's engine will furnish a forward force of 1200 N. Will you make it completely through the intersection before the light turns red?

    If you decide to panic stop, your brakes will provide a force of 1800 N. Will you stop before entering the intersection?

    Can someone please let me know how to do this? I am confused...Physics help please???!?%26lt;%26lt; If you choose to accelerate, your car's engine will furnish a forward force of 1200 N. Will you make it completely through the intersection before the light turns red? %26gt;%26gt;

    The analysis here will be as follows -- calculate the distance to be travelled by the car in 4 seconds (after seeing the green light change to yellow). If the distance travelled is greater than 45 m, then the car will make it through the intersection before the light turns red.

    Working formula is

    S = VoT + (1/2)aT^2

    where

    S = distance travelled in 4 sec.

    Vo = initial velocity = 15 m/sec.

    T = 4 seconds

    a = acceleration

    Substituting values,

    S = 15(4) + (1/2)(a)(4^2)

    S = 60 + 8a ---- Equation 1

    Using Newton's 2nd Law of Motion, F = ma

    where

    F = force on the car = 1200

    m = mass of the car = 750

    a = acceleration

    and substituting values,

    1200 = 750(a)

    a = 1.6 m/sec^2

    and substituting a = 1.6 m/sec^2 in Equation 1,

    S = 60 + 8(1.6)

    S = 188 m

    YES --- the car can make it safely through the intersection

    %26lt;%26lt; If you decide to panic stop, your brakes will provide a force of 1800 N. Will you stop before entering the intersection? %26gt;%26gt;

    Using Newton's 2nd Law of Motion,

    - 1800 = 750(a)

    NOTE the negative sign attached to the force. This is merely to show that the force (braking force) is opposite that of the motion of the car.

    a = - 2.4 m/sec^2

    Working formula is

    S = 15(4) + (1/2)(-2.4)(4^2)

    S = 60 - 19.2

    S = 40.8 m

    Since the car will %26quot;panic%26quot; stop in 40.8 m, it will still stop well ahead of the intersection (which is 45 meters).

    Hope this helps.Physics help please???!?First thing you do is determine your acceleration based on the

    force values provided F= ma

    If you choose to accelerate

    1200N =(750kg) a

    a = 1.6m/s^2

    x = vot + 1/2at^2

    x= (15m/s)(4.0)s + 1/2(1.6m/s^2)( 4.0s^2)

    x = 72.8m

    So you make the light

    If you decide to brake

    1800N = (750kg)a

    a = -2.4m/s^2

    x= vot + 12at^2

    x= (15m/s)(4.0s) + 1/2(-2.4m/s^2)(4.0^2)

    x= 40.8m

    So, you're able to stop before intersection

    Cost of changes all four brakes on isuzu trooper 1994?

    I have this sinking feeling I paid to much to replace brakes on my Isuzu and that the may have damaged my car sensors in the processor. Prior to fixing brakes there was no anti lock light going off now there is. That the first sinking feeling

    I much does it cost to change brakes plus the rotors

    Does any know how much to get new anti lock pump installed in an Isuzu where can I find the part

    I am so upset I went to have my brakes done and and now the anti lock light is . I dont trust people could he have take out the anti lock pump and replaced it with a faulty one?????????I mean how to you go in for one thing and the other thing just suddenly go when prior to going in no anti lock light was on

    Hope someone has an answerCost of changes all four brakes on isuzu trooper 1994?The most probable cause is if they replaced the rotors they may have put the wrong rotors on. antilock brakes have to have special rotors, the other thing is they may have had to disconnect one of the wires on one of the wheels which would cause the light to come on, so don't panic take it back and tell them it was ok untill they worked on it, it is most likey a simple problem, wrong rotors or a unplugged antilock connector on a wheel most likely a simple mistake. and When the antilock brake light does come on then what happens it goes into limp in mode meaning the brakes lock up instead of just pulseing on and off 60 times a second. If the pedal feels solid and is about halfway up thebrakes are fine just a goof up if they are spongy they did not get it to bleedwhen they replaced the brakes in which case power bleeding will fix the problem. In any cace take it back and tell them they should make it good if they don't sue them in small claims court but most mechanics will want to make it right they can't survive for long screwing people over. As for price if you have to replace the rotor they cost about $60.00 each this is an average and brake pads can run $40.00 dollars for 2 year pads. So about $70.00 per wheel, if they need to have seals replaced and wheels repacked it can cost an addtional $20.00 per wheel, depending on your area you live in. don't stress go talk to them politely it is probly something simple and they won't charge you. If they give you static then take it to another shop and have it checked out and go to court if the new mechanic tells you thery screwed up. But most likely it's just a easy fix or a unplugged wheel sensor.Cost of changes all four brakes on isuzu trooper 1994?the time to remove the pump and bleed it is not worth the money they would get to rip you off. they would just say they needed to replace the muffler bearing or something like that. did you get it fixed?

The arresting officer told me I would've been charged with reckless driving, but he gave me a warning instead and gave me a ticket for a broken brake light (law section 46.2-1014). I was relieved that I didn't get charged for speeding but worried about fixing the brake light all day. When I got home, I tested all the lights on the back of my car and everything looks perfect. Is it possible he gave me a ticket to add to his quota without having to screw me over with a reckless driving charge? And how am I supposed to prove I fixed something that wasn't broken in the first place? Is a receipt for a new bulb good enough to get the fines dismissed? Do I need to take my car to the shop and have them change out a bulb that isn't broken? Or should I just pay the $92 fine and be done with it?Ticket for improper brake lights in Virginia?If the break lights are fine, what is there to fix?

    I would go to the station and ask for a court session. You state your reason being that your break lights were not broken. If the cop knows better, he will not show up. If he doesn't show up, the ticket is erased and you don't have to pay for it. But if he does, you explain yourself to the judge and let him decided.

    There's no need to get a lawyer. It's just a little session where you and the cop tell your sides of the story and perhaps come to an agreement if he is kind enough.

    The cop cannot mention your speeding either. Then he would be the irresponsible one for not 'handing you the ticket'. The fact that he didn't give you one serves 'you weren't speeding'.Ticket for improper brake lights in Virginia?It sounds like the officer was being nice and not charging you with reckless driving. Officers will sometimes write tickets for something light break lights or expired inspection and not charge for moving violations because moving violations carry points and that gives your insurance agency an excuse to raise your rates.

    As for the %26quot;quota%26quot;; ticket quotas are not premitted and I have never heard of any department in VA that even has any type of informal quota. Besides if the officer had a quota why would he have not written you for reckless? reckeless is a much better charge with a higher fine.

    Lastly as you are saying your break lights are fine make sure that both your parking lights and your brake lights are working including your third break light; this includes all the bulbs lighting up.

    If all your break lights are working properly than you should plead not guilty and take a picture of all your working lights for the judge. However if the officer is going to testify that your lights were not working at the time of the stop you will most likley be found guilty.

    Lastly the only other thing I can think of is the officer wrote you a ticket for %26quot;brake lights%26quot; instead of reckless thinking he was giving you a break even though there was nothing wrong with your break lights. In fact IF this was the case he was giving you a break in the fact that defective equipment charges do not give you points and its a lower fine; but what he did was not technically in line with the law and he should have written you for reckless or let you go.

    So take from that what you will; if you see the officer before court you could polity explain to the officer that you went home and did not see a break light out so what was it that he saw to write you the tickect. But the safest play is to buy a replacement bulb take the recipe to the judge and tell him that the break light has been fixed and ask that the fine be dismissed.

    Car rolling backwards in drive?

    Hey so I drive a 2002 dodge durango...Not sure how many miles are on it though. Anyway today when I was stopped at a light, the light changed and when I went to take my foot off the brake, the car started rolling backwards and it wouldn't stop even when I pushed on the brake. So then I but the car in neutral and then tried putting it back in drive but it was still rolling backwards. So then I slammed my foot on the break, put the car in park, put on the emergency brake...And the car STILL wasn't braking! So finally it registered that it was suppose to be breaking and I instantly turned the car off, and turned my hazards on and just sat in the car. What could be causing this to happen..? There were no new or unusual noises the car was making and it was still running fine..just going backwards and not braking. Please help! And my car is an automatic.

    Thanks!Car rolling backwards in drive?I don't know anything about cars but you should definitely bring it into the shop. I had a problem where my car was rolling backwards and wouldn't accelerate. Turns out my tranny was busted. Bring it into a shop for a proper diagnosis.Car rolling backwards in drive?Are you sure that your were forward in the car?

    Help with a driving incident!?

    So i was pulling out of a parking lot with heavy traffic, and there was a break in it except for one person tuning left into the plaza i was in from another entrance. There was a light change, and i had started to go forward, when the person turning suddenly changed his mind and started coming towards me. Not wanting to be hit by the now oncoming traffic that i couldn't avoid by going forward due to the turning car, I looked behind me and backed up. I simultaneously heard a horn and felt a bump, but was unsure of its source. I rolled forward about 6 inches and saw the roof of a car become visible in my mirrors. I got out and checked my vehicle and hers and gave her a thumbs up to show luckily no damage had incurred, but she must have not believed me because she got out of her car to look, and she failed to engage her car in park or engage the emergency brake, and rear ended my car. I told her hopefully there was still no damage, and she went back to her car and pulled out from the bumper of mine. There was EXTREMELY minimal damage now; the plastic lining around her grill was cracked, and she felt it necessary to call the police and fire department. I was cited with unsafe backing, and she with failure to control her vehicle. The damage was done when she rear ended my car, and since she didn't see that there was no damage before she rear ended me, how will this work out? I am telling the truth and since we can't determine when the damage occurred, will my word be held for its value when i swear that there was no damage when i backed into her, and that it occur ed when she hit me? NO damage occurred to my car, her car was very small and when it rolled into me it kinda went under my bumper. No one was injured. So my questions are:

    Will I have to pay for the damage most likely? or how ill that work out? And this is my first moving violation, I am 16 in the state of Arizona, what will happen to my license in regards to points and what will be my most likely method of action that the court will tell me?Help with a driving incident!?First - on the citation - I would think that the officer properly charged you for improper backing. Which should be a fine and court costs - plus points from you license.

    Next - the damages - since both of you were charged with moving violations - I would think your insurance companies would settle the percentage of fault - and would probable pay 50-percent of the total damages. This will increase both of the driver's insurance rates. You would have to pay your deductibles and co-pays.Help with a driving incident!?sounds like you both were wrong?? she got a ticket too!! be shure to tell the insurance company that too?looks like you both was equally wrong??Help with a driving incident!?Sounds like you were BOTH at fault. You first, and then her. You need to contact your insurance company and explain what happened - so that your insurnace company knows the whole story.

    I don't know about what will happen with your license - some states penalize young drivers more than they do more experienced drivers.

  • How do you change the idle speed on your car?

    I have a '99 Galant and after I've been driving for a while the oil pressure light comes on when I hit the brakes and the engine rpms drop to idle at about 700 rpms. As soon as I hit the gas the light goes back out at about 900 rpms. my oil pump is fine and there are no leaks in the oil lines so i'm fairly certain that's not the problem. I think idle speed is too low but since there's no carbureator I can't figure out how to increase it.How do you change the idle speed on your car?your car is computer controlled, the idle is set and should not need to be tampered with. it sounds like you have a low oil pressure problem. You say your pump is good, how do you know this? Your oil pump is not the only thing that determines your oil pressure, which is triggering that light. How maNY MILES ARE ON IT ?How do you change the idle speed on your car?sounds like you may have a bad valve or head problem, I had a mustang that did the same thing and it needed a new head. but as far as adusting the idle, i think that even in 1999 it was controled by the computer. in other words you can't.How do you change the idle speed on your car?I think there is a cable on the throttle body. I know there is an ICM(Idle Control Motor) so you have to adjust that opr the idle controller on the throttle body.

    Do you like or dislike new jersey drivers?

    * Turn signals will give away your next move. A real New Jersey driver never uses them.

    * Under no circumstances should you leave a safe distance between you and the car in front of you,or the space will be filled in by somebody else putting you in an even more dangerous situation.

    * Crossing two or more lanes in a single lane-change is considered going with the flow.

    * The faster you drive through a red light, the smaller the chance you have of getting hit.

    * Never, ever come to a complete stop at a stop sign. No one expects it and it will inevitably result in you being rear ended. If you want your insurance company to pay for a new rear bumper, come to a complete stop at all stop signs.

    * A right lane construction closure is just a game to see how many people can cut in line by passing you on the right as you sit in the left lane waiting for the same jerks to squeeze their way back in before hitting the orange construction barrels.

    * Never get in the way of an older car that needs extensive bodywork. New Jersey is a no-fault insurance state and the other guy doesn't have anything to lose.

    * Braking is to be done as hard and late as possible to ensure that your ABS kicks in, giving a nice, relaxing foot massage as the brake pedal pulsates. For those of you without ABS, it's a chance to stretch your legs.

    * Never pass on the left when you can pass on the right. It's a good way to scare people entering the highway.

    * Speed limits are arbitrary figures, given only as suggestions and are apparently not enforceable in New Jersey during rush hour.

    * Just because you're in the left lane and have no room to speed up or move over doesn't mean that a New Jersey driver flashing his high beams behind you doesn't think he can go faster in your spot.

    * Please remember that there is no such thing as a shortcut during rush-hour traffic in New Jersey.

    * Always slow down and rubberneck when you see an accident or even someone changing a tire.

    * Learn to swerve abruptly. New Jersey is the home of high-speed slalom driving thanks to the State Highway Department, which puts potholes in key locations to test drivers' reflexes and keep them on their toes.

    * It is traditional in New Jersey to honk your horn at cars that don't move the instant the light changes.

    * Never take a green light at face value. Always look right and left before proceeding.

    * Remember that the goal of every New Jersey driver is to get there first,by whatever means necessary.

    * Real New Jersey women drivers can put on pantyhose and apply eye makeup at seventy-five miles per hour in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

    * Real New Jersey men drivers can remove their girlfriend's panties and bra at seventy-five miles per hour or in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

    * In the New Jersey area 'flipping someone the bird' is considered a polite New Jersey salute. This gesture should always be returned

    *The only way to exit a highway or change lanes is the Jersey slide, To do so, slide across all lanes of the highway without pausing or using your blinker. Bonus points if you do it in traffic

    Do you recommend to change your own oil in a 2006 BMW 325i? What oil do you recommend? How do you reset?

    I have changed oil in my old Ford Explorer as well as my wifes Acura RDX...Is the BMW any more complicated? Any tips? How do you reset the service light. I am also due for a new microfilter and brake fluid? I think I can handle the microfilter. Any thoughts?Do you recommend to change your own oil in a 2006 BMW 325i? What oil do you recommend? How do you reset?It is easier to change the oil on BMW's than on any other car I have ever seen. The filter is sitting on top of the engine just behind the radiator. You need to have either a 32 or 36 MM socket to open the reservoir that the filter sits in. The drain plug is no different than any other car.

    BMW does recommend their own oil which is a special Castrol 5-W30 synthetic blend only sold by BMW dealers. My dealer charges $6.25 a quart but each dealer can set their own price.

    You can go to bimmerforums.com to find specific instructions on how to reset the service lights. It is done by pushing the knob which controls the diagnostics. On earlier BMW's you had to use a special reset tool.

    The brake fluid bleeding is straight forward like other cars. I use a Motive pressure bleeder which makes it very easy for one person to do the job.

    The microfilter is very easy and again go to bimmrforums to see specific instructions.Do you recommend to change your own oil in a 2006 BMW 325i? What oil do you recommend? How do you reset?BMW is VERY specific about the type of oil to use, it MUST be full synthetic and I bet the owners manual calls for 0w-40, a 5w-40 would be fine too.

    Check the owners manual as it will tell you specifically how much and what type of oil to use.

    BMW actually has their own brand of oil designed to go the 15,000 miles between oil changes.

    How to reset the service light should be in the owners manual as well.

    BMW, VW, Land Rover, MB, Audi, Volvo...ALL recommend changing the brake fluid every 2 years no matter the miles.

    Brake fluid absorbs moister and when it does it looses its braking power.

    Flushing brake fluid will also extend the life of braking components, like the ABS modulator.

    Flushing brake fluid is a 2 person job.

    If you go to www.landroverforums.com and find the %26quot;Discovery%26quot; page there is a write up on how to flush the brake fluid on a Land Rover but the process is the same for every car and truck.

    It will say on the brake fluid reservoir what type of brake fluid you need, DOT 3, DOT4, DOT5.

    Your owners manual will tell you how much brake fluid you will need.Do you recommend to change your own oil in a 2006 BMW 325i? What oil do you recommend? How do you reset?Oil changes are more or less the same. You should check your oil cap or owners handbook for your fluid types. It should tell you how much oil the car will take as well as what type. You should be able to do it yourself with the experience you currently have.

    As for your brakes, Brake systems are a closed hydraulic system...I wouldn't mess with it unless you really need to. Are you actually boiling your brake fluid? i doubt it. Brake fluid is recommended to be changed because the fluid will absorb water over time and that lowers it's boiling point. if you break heavy you can get water to boil causing air in the lines. if your brakes bite good and the pedal doesn't feel %26quot;spongy%26quot; then don't worry about brake fluid, keep the system closed. if you need to bleed it a little...but i doubt your doing hard enough braking to justify this. it's one of those book maintenance things that a lot of mechanics love to tell you that you need even when you don't.Do you recommend to change your own oil in a 2006 BMW 325i? What oil do you recommend? How do you reset?buy reset tool on ebay[to reset service light ]should be just same idea to ghange oil in bmw get good quality oil[synthetic] mind and get correct viscosity oil and a branded oil filter go onto bmw forums for pollen filter fitting as 4 brake fluid i dont think this will need disturbed unless it has mega miles on clockDo you recommend to change your own oil in a 2006 BMW 325i? What oil do you recommend? How do you reset?wel if you change oil in any thing before its pretty much same a oil drain plug and a filter type of oil kind of depends on you 5w30 most any brand

    How expensive is maintenance on an 1999 audi a4?

    I just bought a 1999 audi a4 with 133,000 miles. It recently had most of the belts changed including timing belt. I think the brakes were recently done. Nothing seems to be the matter with it except the brake light flashes even though the e brake is down. The reason I bought the car was I got an incredible deal on it ($1875). I am concerned about maintenance. How expensive can it be?How expensive is maintenance on an 1999 audi a4?You shouldnt have any schedualed maintenance in the near future. You should probably look over the car and make sure there are no small problems that can turn into big ones. For $1875 I'm willing to bet there is something wrong, so if you cant find it you may want to take it in and have a mechanic go over it. If everything is fine your only maintenance expense will be oil changes ($75+ at most places).How expensive is maintenance on an 1999 audi a4?High miles on audis is usually a bad thing. The problem with german cars is their reputation. Everyone thinks the maintenance is expensive so it bascaly allows the mechanics and audi themselves to make it expensive. As long as nothing major goes wrong you should be fine. I have a 2002 A4 and 2 months after i bought it, it needed a new head gasket which cost me almost $3000. Its good that the belts were replaced. Watch out for the abs light or the airbag light. It is a common problem on the 98 to 2001 a4's. I have a feeling that car is going to cost you a lot of money. 1875 is way too cheap. Theres probably something wrong. Definitely have a mechanic look at it. I would have had a mechanic look at it before you bought it tho.How expensive is maintenance on an 1999 audi a4?Oil changes will NOT cost $75, unless its an RS4, and that is around $50-60. As for the brake light flashing, have that looked at, it may be a loose wire. Was the H20 pump and thermostat changed when the timing belt was done? You did score a deal.

  • How long would it take a mechanic to do these repairs?

    1.)Order 4 SUV tires

    2.) Do a brake job

    3.) Change the camshaft sensor...(causing check engine light)

    The vehicle is a 1999 ford explorer. How long would it take to get this done? On average..How long would it take a mechanic to do these repairs?the tires are easy, should only be 10-15 minutes to call in. The brake jobis more involved, you didn't say if only one axle or all the way around, and it will depend on how bad everything is. If it is just replacing the front pads and the rotors are ok, about an hour or so. If the rotors need to be turned, or the calipers need to be replaced it will take proprtionately longer. As far as the cam sensor, you didn't say which engine you have, but I don't remember them being too difficult to get at on the Fords, should only mount with 1 or 2 screws and unplug the connector,...20-30 mins.

    My ABS light stays on the majority of the time (mitsubishi shogun 2.8 1996)?

    My ABS light stays on the majority of the time (mitsubishi shogun 2.8 1996) ive changed the brake caliper that needed changing as all of the others were fine and topped up the brake fluid, the ABS comes on every now and again and ive seen one mechanic who said he had no idea what it was.

    It had its MOT last wednesday and one of the failure points was the ABS light being on al the time.

    I only ever drive in 2WD on roads and was just after a bt of info on how to cure this problem please

    many thanks,

    roosterpotatoes :)My ABS light stays on the majority of the time (mitsubishi shogun 2.8 1996)?I dont know, could be a number of things from brake pads worn or on backwards, bent part of the wheel, touchy sensor on your emergency brake lever, messed up fluid line, etc.....basically something wrong with your brake system, plan on it being expensive repair cost or cheap turn of a wrench. Find a mechanic that knows how to fix the problem, and post again if you have any odd noises or more pecific times when the light goes on, also ask the mechanic about stupid problems like a touchy lever, my abs light goes on when i dont have weight on the e-brake lever to keep it from moving.My ABS light stays on the majority of the time (mitsubishi shogun 2.8 1996)?warning light sensor could of gone bad, its most likely a computer problem and not a actual problem as long as the brakes are not locking upMy ABS light stays on the majority of the time (mitsubishi shogun 2.8 1996)?it could be a loose connection between the abs wire and the connector on the caliperMy ABS light stays on the majority of the time (mitsubishi shogun 2.8 1996)?Quite possible that you could have a bad wheel sensor. Every wheel has a sensor (4 wheel ABS) to sense the differential wheel speed. If this sensor goes bad or a wire shorts somehow, they will malfunction and turn on your light. The ABS light only indicates that your ABS is not functioning - brakes will work as normal so there is no reason to alarm.

    Parking lamps problems?

    Hello,

    I would appreciate any advice about how to fix my problem. I have Ford Focus SE 2000 (no fog lights). A couple of days ago the parking lamps and instrument cluster lighting went out suddenly when I pressed remote luggage compartment release button. Side lights (left, right), brake lamps, back-up lamps, and hazard flasher are working fine. When I press brake pedal, the instrument cluster lights up normally.

    First, I changed brake lamps because I thought they burned down. It happened before. Then I checked fuses - they looked fine. Then I replaced headlight switch, but it didn't help. I bought a used one. Maybe I need to get a new switch.

    Thank you for your recommendations,

    DmitriParking lamps problems?Check grounding in bulb sockets and also ground to frame for light assemblies. It sounds like you have a floating ground, and when you put the brake pedal down, the power %26quot;backfeeds%26quot; through the parking light circuit! Parking lights and dash lights on same circuit! There are a number of wild things that may appear if you have grounds missing (especially on back lights). They range from brakelights going out, when pedal down, and pkg lights coming on, or the other way around, I have even seen park and dash lights come on dim (seen only in dark), - with lights turned off, - because the power from brake lights was making %26quot;backfeed%26quot; through park (since ground missing on brakelights)

    Now be advised that what the fuse %26quot;looks like%26quot; is not proof the fuse is good! Try switching with another fuse of same size- these fuses are identified by color! So find one of that color, switch and see if the problem goes away on this circuit, - and shows up on the other one! You may have a spare stored in the cover over fuses, - or somewhere there (don't know exactly what it looks like). Other than that the only definate proof is a continuity check.-- one thing you can do there is to get a %26quot;cheap voltage checker%26quot; (which is a light with clip on wire on one end, and a pointed %26quot;probe%26quot; on the other, - you clip wire end to a good grounded part close enough to allow the probe to reach fusebox--- then try making contact on the little pieces of metal showing on top of fuse, - - if you %26quot;read%26quot; (bulb lights) voltage on one side, you shoud read it on other side, - if not the fuse is burned out. If you don't read on either side, try turning lights on and then checking! Also you can make sure that the accessory that is indicated is turned on (this may make voltage available in that circuit).

    By the way are these lights on the trunklid? The trunk opener might %26quot;blown%26quot; ground wire, if it was damaged a little before this problem happened. So it might be a good idea to check and see itf the lid is still grounded to the frame. Also check around wires going to the release mechanism to see if the wire from it is shorted to one of %26quot;light wires%26quot;, - ---or the release wire grounded to frame (which would probably blow a fuse)!Parking lamps problems?Thank you for your answer.

    Please advise where I can find ground connections (to the frame) in my car.

    Thanks again,

    Dmitri

  • My car service engine light came on. How long do i have to fix it?

    I have a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse. Its over 150,000 miles on it. I just forked out 515.00 dollars for new brake pads and roaters. And 50.00 dollars for a oil change and flush. I don't get paid for another two weeks and the engine light came on 4 days ago. On monday i took it to an Auto Zone and they plugged in something to the inside of my car. Which narrowed it down to 4 things.

    1. Defective,loose or missing fuel cap

    2. EVAP canister broke, hose cracked or not connected

    3. Purge or vent solenoid defective

    4. Vacuum leak at engine

    My fuel cap is not loose or missing and thats all i know. But if I were to pick one of the four from the list you've given, I'd have to say it's probably a bad solenoid, unless you hear some bizarre noises coming from the engine, then it's a vacuum leak.My car service engine light came on. How long do i have to fix it?This happened to me not too long ago. It ended up being a vacuum leak. Probably the guys at the gas station didn't put my cap on tight enough. The light will go on and stay on until it is reset, so the Midas guy told me. He just rest the light and said, if it stays off, then it was that (it has stayed off). Only cost me $30. Might want to try a local place and just have them reset the engine light? it's worth a try.My car service engine light came on. How long do i have to fix it?You have a problem with the evaporative emissions control system, this will not hurt the car, just the environment. How long do i have to fix it?My check engine light has been on for just over a year.... car still runs great???My car service engine light came on. Can someone help me with this question?

    You are driving to the grocery story at 20 m/s. You are 110 m from an intersection when the traffic light turns red. Assume that your reaction time is 0.50 s and that your car brakes with constant acceleration.

    a. How far are you from the intersection when you begin to apply the brakes?

    b. What acceleration will bring you to rest right at the intersection?

    c. How long does it take you to stop after the light changes?

    Am I supposed to use equations and plug the numbers at the beginning of the question into whichever equations they may be? There are three different kinematic equations for motion with constant acceleration. Would I use one of them. I am not quite sure which to use if I am to use them.Can someone help me with this question?Start with motion at constant speed: You see the light turn red and 0.5 s later you hit the brake. SO in the 0.5 sec you travel

    d = v*t = 20 m/s*0.5s = 10 m That's part a.

    Now you have only 110 -10 = 100 m in which to stop. You are moving at 20 m/s when you begin to brake and you want to come to rest at the intersection. So you can use:

    x =(v^2 - v0^2)/(2a) to solve for a ---%26gt; a =(v^2 - v0^2)/(2x)

    a = (0^2 - 20^2)/(2*100) = -400 m^2/s^2/200m = -2 m/s^2

    The %26quot;-%26quot; sign indicates you are deccelerating.

    Since you know a, you can use:

    v = at+v0 and solve for t t=(v-v0)/a = (0 - 20)/(-2) = 10 sec

    My car is making sounds when I turn and when I brake after i got my oil change.?

    Now, I am not sure if the oil change was the problem. But it did happen not right after but a day after the oil change. I got it changed at jiffy lube. I had a bad experience with them before but at another location. They caused my engine light to turn on and blamed it on me bc it might be the gas tank that is not tightened after fueling! that is some BS bc why the hell did it happen after the damn oil change. So i guess this is my 2nd time at the new location and this time, my car was making noises. When I turn and brake, it makes a loud noise. Not exactly squeaky, but like a grinding the ground kind of sound. I just noticed the noise today but i noticed the grinding since the day after they changed my oil. I have my music up high most of the time so i couldn't hear the noise, but today i had the music down and window down for a lil bit and noticed how loud it was! So i just want to know if this is something that can be wronged by getting my oil change. This is the 3rd day so I need to know if this is their fault so i can go cuss them out so they can fix it. I went online and search and they have a lot of complaints!!! and I saw a complaint the same as mine so i just want to make sure.My car is making sounds when I turn and when I brake after i got my oil change.?one of the things that can be done by the oil change could be that ther's is some kind of leak and it is not leubricating corrctly if this is the problem, the noise should sound metal against metal.Another problem could be the belt it tends to squeak when it is old or worn out this sounds more like your problem. go to your nearest auto parts store and ask for a diognastic on your car . it is usually free .My car is making sounds when I turn and when I brake after i got my oil change.?1 the gas cap deal is real.

    honestly the chance of them doing something to your car to make a noise is unlikely. it sounds like you either have a brake noise or seizin suspension part.

    It might not hurt to look under you car from where the noise is coming thing from and see if you can see something that looks out of place.My car is making sounds when I turn and when I brake after i got my oil change.?it should not effect your breaks at all but something may have been broken in the process. i would have it looked at to see if it could have been jiffy lube fault.(i worked for the for a few days and they did all kinda of shady stuff to get more money)My car is making sounds when I turn and when I brake after i got my oil change.?I'd suggest you check the serviceability of your brake pads. It could be the wear indicator spring has reached the disc, meaning the pads are worn too far. That's why the spring is there.My car is making sounds when I turn and when I brake after i got my oil change.?It sounds like a cv (constant velocity) axle. A good indicator is if it is only making the noise from one side of the vehicle. If it is the cv axle, it was probably NOT jiffy lube did it. This a common problem in front wheel drive cars. It shouldn't be too expensive.

    How do I change Break Pads on Ford Cougar (01)?

    My brake pad warning light is on, and I dont really want to take my car to a garage to change the pads, and as im pretty handed I figure I can do it myself - all I need is the info on how to do it without fekkin my brakes up.

    Im looking at doing my front brakes, as its most likely to be them.

    The manuals for the Cougar are notoriously difficult to get hold of, hence the question on here.

    Any help, even if it's a web link is much appreciated.How do I change Break Pads on Ford Cougar (01)?if your good you dont need to even unbolt the caliper at all just use a c clamp and tighten it around the caliper so piston pops back DONT NEED BRAKE FLUID BECAUSE WHEN YOU POP PISTON BACK FLUID GOES BACK INTO RESEVOIR!!!

    when piston is popped back just put in new pads my friend and reassemble everything else then WALAHHHHH u have brakes lolHow do I change Break Pads on Ford Cougar (01)?That's easy, first take off the rim then undo the 2 bolts behind the caliper, then pull the caliper off and remove the old pads, then compress the piston back into the caliper, insert new pads, and reassemble.

    2002 Ford Explorer Brake job question?

    I have a 2002 Ford Explorer, the ABS light came on so I know I need brakes. I bought it 5 years ago used and I have not changed the brakes yet so I am assuming I need rotors as well. I have looked around my area to get an estimate of how much a complete brake job would be (with rotors, etc) and at this point I don't have that much money. My question is: can I just replace the brake pads only, and then in a couple of months when I do have the money replace everything? I just moved to South Florida from Mass. so I do not know anyone that can change the brakes on the side, or a place the is reputable and cheap.

    Thank you,2002 Ford Explorer Brake job question?the abs is a anti lock system,the abs light has nothing to do with the condition of your brakes.it may be telling you the abs is not working which is no big deal.and yes you can just replace the pads even if the rotors are grooved,the pads just sort of mold in.2002 Ford Explorer Brake job question?The answer is yes you can change just the pads. The pads will wear faster because of the imperfections/ wear on the rotors. if you change only the pads Check closely for cracks it the rotors you plan to put back on . Also if they have lots of grooves and are not flat you may take them and have them turned, provided they have enough thickness.

    When i first got the car, the ABS light came on. When i did an oil change, it turned off for about 2-3 months and then came back on. It's been on ever since and when you step on the brakes, it makes a rattle noise and sometimes the break sinks in.

    How much does it cost on average?

    to have a brake light in a 2000 VW Bug changed, I bought the bulb already. Does it cost like $300?How much does it cost on average?the thing about those VW bugs is that they made it really hard to do simple light changes. i know that you have to remove the whole bumper to do a headlight, i wouldnt be suprised if it is just as labor intensive to do the rear. sorry about your luck.How much does it cost on average?$300 to just put in a bulb?!? someone is trying to scam you!!!How much does it cost on average?If it does that must really be a poorly designed car. Get out the owners manual and read up on to change it yourself.How much does it cost on average?If it did, I'd now be rich. LOL Actually I haven't worked on one of those critters. But, I'd recommend asking at Autozone, maybe someone there would know and show you how. Anything over ten bucks I'd consider a rip off. Live in East Tennessee???How much does it cost on average?no way

    you can do it yourself

    if you go to a shop they might charge $10-$20

    don't go to the vw dealer.

    Tip#1:

    Use gloves, so you do not touch the tail light bulb. Plus its easier to grip the tail light bulb. The grease/oil from your hands, even if you just washed, it will make the bulb burn out faster.

    Let's get started

    Remove the cover (it's round) from the inside of your trunk.

    Use a butter knife or flat screwdriver to leverage it out. There is a notch on one side so you can slip the butterknife/flat head screwdriver in to pop it out.

    When you take that part off, there will be a black knob that needs to be unscrewed totally to release the back light casing.

    Next

    Along the rear fenders where the lights are, there are two gaps. The inside gap (nearest hatch back door), is a release tab/clip on the light inside between the gaps.

    Insert a butter knife or something slim and pull out the casing (don't be afraid, and it take a little force to pull it out).

    And then....

    After you pull out the casing, you'll find two light switches (one is for the turn signal, and the other is for your brake light).

    Turn the light switch counter clockwise (assuming it's hanging upside down) and remove.

    Switch it out

    Switch the tail light bulb with new one (Advanced Auto Parts: $4.17)

    There are little dots on the bottom of the bulb that need to be in the right place. You will notice that one is higher than the other. They need to be in the right slot otherwise you will be cursing yourself when it doesn't rotate.

    Put it in reverse

    Replace everything back as you uninstalled it.

    EDIT: check this website they have pics and you CAN do it.

    can you open a jar of peanut butter? then you can do it!!How much does it cost on average?Stop any random man on the street and ask them to do it. It's not hard at all. It should take 10 minutes. If you already have the bulb it should be a 20 dollar job. just take it to a local garage.How much does it cost on average?all you gotta do is take off the cover and pull off the old bulb and put the new one on then put the cover back on.....

    Go to a small used car dealership they might help you do it..... NO WAY ITS $300 they are tryin to rip u off....its not very hard at all im 13 and i could do it myself

    Battery light camry-what's causing it/?

    have a battery -mostly while driving on the freeway but on also comes on at random times on street. It's a 95 toyota camry with 170k miles. Light comes on simultaneously with brake lamp light (icon is that of car with two rear lights radiating). The battery tested poor and I replaced -but the dash light behavior didn't change. Alternator tests as good while in car. I also run a wire from the +ve battery terminal to to the car cabin and monitor the voltage on my multimeter (grounded on cigarette lighter) while I drive -it's measures around about 13.5 V before starting engine then goes to ~14.55 V (very little fluctuation ~+/- 0.04 V) once the engine is started and idle, and goes up to ~14.70 V on the freeway (~14.67 when AC etc turned on). I look at the reading when the battery light comes on but it consistently measures ~14.7 V!

    Aside: I took out the alternator for bench testing at Autozone before changing the battery -Autozone machine failed the alternator on all three aspects in test (including diode, etc) -but I question the reliability of the machine as it basically says my alternator is %26quot;dead%26quot; i.e. fails ALL tests yet it my car works on 14.7 volts! AND passes Autozone in car alternator test! (Was about to buy a new alternator from autozone from Autozone when I decided to let them test the new first on the same machine-but new alternator also %26quot;failed%26quot; the bench test-this makes me believe something is wrong with the bench testing!)

    Anyway, I with figuring the lights: brand new 750 CCA battery, alternator producing spec voltage even while battery light on. If the it's the sensor problem or grounding how do I proceed? Could it still be a diode malfunction? What would the voltage be like a just one or more diodes in the rectifier malfunction? Help!Battery light camry-what's causing it/?If it's happening mostly while you are driving you may want to think about checking for a loose wire. It is possible and I've seen things like this happen that you hit a bump and your ground (ground wire) is effected. Check for a loose, burned, corroded wire.

    Why is my oil light coming on?

    I have a 1998 dodge neon. I just had an oil change a few days ago. When I brake, my car shakes and my oil light comes on. It feels like it is going to stall, but doesn't. It doesn't shake when it accelerates though. Also, my car smells like something is burning. Does anyone know what the problem is and how much it would cost to fix? Thanks.Why is my oil light coming on?sounds like the timing is out so you may be burning to much oil hence the smell, or there is not enough oil in the resevoir and that smell is your engine cooking either way get it to a legitimate mechanic for a service before you cook the motorWhy is my oil light coming on?read that I just had an oil change

Sounds like the didnt get something tight. such as your drain plug, oil cap, or even oil filter. As for the burning smell most common thing is they spilt oil on your engine... AND if something is missing your engine will stop running after all oil is pumped out...Why is my oil light coming on?Take your vehicle back to the place that did the initial oil change ,ask them to check it out .... Then proceed from there .Why is my oil light coming on?Put your car in the shop immediatelyWhy is my oil light coming on?If you can smell something burning, it might mean that its loosing oil, did you check if the oil fill cap is screwed on , and if its not loosing oil at the drain plug, underneath the engine, sometimes after a oil change, if they did not replace the sealing washer, it looses oil. Check these things as soon as possible, or it could ruin your engine.Why is my oil light coming on?sounds like your oil sensor is out it is usually at the bottom of your car.underneath some run for as many as 60.00 to 80.00 dollars. labor 90.00 dollars an hour but you can get it out with the right socket have someone(mechanic) point it out to you,you might know someone who works on cars who will do it for you for free oil sensors will leak a small drip at a time that might be the burning smell. also make sure whoever did your oil change put the cap back on and the oil plug on tight enough mistakes do happen...Why is my oil light coming on?Check the oil and then checks for leaksWhy is my oil light coming on?uhhhh........! Maybe U need oil!!!!!!!!Why is my oil light coming on?Do not drive the car. There is a serious problem here and if you are running the engine you will ruin the engine. The oil needs to be changed again. To me it sounds like the shop messed something up. They may not have put in enough oil. Check the dipstick with the motor off. It is pretty self exploratory if the stick says the oil is low add more. Look under your vehicle for a leak as well.Why is my oil light coming on?Hi

    It does not have to do with your breaks. This can be something to do with the ignition or the distribution belt. When you slow down the car the engine slow down the revolutions, if the engine time is not properly set, mechanic (belt) or electronic (ignition), then you will get the shakes. Check your engine temperature and compare it with what it was the normal temperature in your car. If your temperature is ok, then the smell could be assosiated with the oil change, sometimes oil spills in some heat spots or the engine, like the exauhst manifolds. When the engine is slowing revolutions the oil pump does not send the requierd oil presure to the system, That could be the oil light indication on your panel. Take your car to a mechanic, tell him about the simptoms. If the problem is the ignition or the belt , cost should be between $300.00 to $600.00 depending on how severe is the damangeWhy is my oil light coming on?If you take it back to where they changed the oil, they are going to try and cover their b u tt and get you out of there.

    Go to a mechanic and have it checked out, to see if there is damage, THEN go back and tell the oil change guys to make it good.Why is my oil light coming on?The people who changed your oil probably overfilled it and you are to high of an oil pressure read and burn the oil off which can also make your car stallWhy is my oil light coming on?When the oil light comes on it is to late!! You have alreday done damage to the motor!! it probably has no oil or the oil pump went on it!! The motor needs to get rebuilt or get a used one put in!! It will run you over a thousand dollars!!! Good luck!!

    01 mustang. the break light warning turns on and off..why?

    the %26quot;break%26quot; light in the dash turns on once in a while, i know it's a warning that something needs to be fixed or is about to break, can someone tell me what it might be for?. also how do you change the brake fluid?01 mustang. the break light warning turns on and off..why?Brake inspections are free by law in many states. Or it wont be more than 20 dollars at a place like midas. In order to change the brake fluid, you also have to bleed the brake system, which can be hard to regain a solid brake pedal. You most likely have a leak in your brake system somewhere that is allowing air into the system. It could be a bad line, fitting, or master cylinder. You didnt mention if you brake pedal is softer than it should be, that will tell you if something is immediately wrong. I would take it to a shop sooner than later. bad brakes aren't cool01 mustang. the break light warning turns on and off..why?You are probably low on fluid. 01 mustang. the break light warning turns on and off..why?first check the fluid and then might need to replace brake pads and really you dont have to replace the fluid just add when low it last for years you will break or wear out something will before you need to replace fluid brakes are easy do at home job in most case few tool are needed not much harder than fixing a flat tire my wife does her own brake jobs easy job once you know how one works you can do any car or truck.. knowing when and how to check them and knowing how to replace them 01 mustang. the break light warning turns on and off..why?That is a warning light. As long as your brakes seem to be working ok then.... It is also the light that signals that your parking brake is set. I have a problem similar to that. If your parking brake is set by a pedal pull the release lever and push the pedal up, hard then let go and see if that was your problem. I know its dumb for that light to mean two thing but the is the way ford does it. If that doesn't fix your problem get it checked out.

    By the way if you have never changed your brake fluid, you should.

    It is often overlooked but is just like any other fluid. It breaks down under pressure and needs to be replaced about every 30 to 45 thousand miles. It is quite possibly the most important fluid in your car because you can't stop without it.

  • My cars a ford feista P reg, and the brake lights have gone, please helppp!?

    Its not actually the lights themselves as i've took the lights out and swapped and changed them in the other bulbs places, so all the bulbs work, so it must be the bulb holders or the circuit. Has anyone got any ideas of how to fix this problem or what it could be? Thank youMy cars a ford feista P reg, and the brake lights have gone, please helppp!?It could well be the brake light switch which I think is underneath the brake pedal, but I am not sure on this particular model. It is unlikely to be both bulb holders that are faulty. If it is as I think, (and, as I say, I am not sure on this model) then you should be able to pull off the two wires on the brake switch and unscrew the switch itself fairly easily, although a degree in contortionism may be required in order to see what you are doing under the pedal. A new switch shouldn't be too expensive.My cars a ford feista P reg, and the brake lights have gone, please helppp!?It could be a fuse. It can even be a problem in the black box that controls all the lighting.

    Try the fuse first but after that I think you need a garage.My cars a ford feista P reg, and the brake lights have gone, please helppp!?Take it to a garage for repair.

    Try and figure this one out....electrical possibly????

    Last year I blew a brake light and then a head light, both on the left hand side. I repaired the brake light, and then when I was about to change the head light, when I turned the thing that hold it in the assembly it worked fine. For the rest of the winter the head light turned off whenever it felt like it, and fixing it meant pooping the hood unhooking it, and hooking it back up. Then the left and right headlights started taking turns. When warm weather retuned the problem disappeared. Now, fall is here and it is starting all over again, just the left one for now, and only when it is cold out. What is the problem and how can I fix it on my own.Try and figure this one out....electrical possibly????codensation is making you wiring to have a mild case of wiring rust, not really visible but belive it is there. At the autoparts store they sell a wiring plug spray that prevents this from happening, just make sure you clean the connectors before you applied it with some lemon and baking soda mixture, dry and than applied, this should take care of the problem for ever. Good Luck!Try and figure this one out....electrical possibly????CHECK THE GROUNDS ON THE HEADLIGHTS ALSO CLEAN ALL YOUR CONNECTIONSTry and figure this one out....electrical possibly????It could be a bad earth connection.

    Work Experience breaking the law?

    Hello, well today i had my work experience but i don't think im gonna go back tomorrow, i think they have broken the law multiple times!

    I am an electricians assistant for a week and im 15.

    Well i got there they let me in say hi and then nothing else for 10 Min's then just ell me im going with this guy(NO HEALTH AND SAFETY)

    Then i went on a site then some guy showed me how to change light sockets and switches i did a few(upstairs power turned off) Then i had to stand on a ladder by the stairs which i could of fell off of. I had to cut round the lights with a Stanley knife(:O).

    I then traveled with another guy to anoter place and hel him install some pwer thing where i had to carry very heavy equipment and then use the saw to cut some wood(i cut my slef a couple of times but nothing big). Arround oneish i had a 10 min brake, for another few hours i just helped bits and pieces(soo boring)

    My time was ment to be from 8-4 and they were emnt to drop me off as wee are constantly moving about then i got home just before 6(not 4).

    Last of all i was ment to be picked from tuesday-friday as my mum is working and i would have truble gettign there, but when i phoned up they said i had to make my way there in the morining?

    Does this very wrong to anyone?

    I know its a job and im understanding but for a 15 year old on work expeiriance?Work Experience breaking the law?Yes, they should have been more onto the information regarding health and safety. They had no business asking a 15 year old to work for them, without having proper coverage for you. Most of the ages for working in most area are 16. So unfortunately, I don't know if you would be even covered under the WCB act.

    Also, with someone who is just getting work experience, it is not appropriate to put them into situations that are very dangerous, and that injury could happen. They should have gotten you to do duties like getting materials from the truck, or setting up the tools, or whatever like that, but getting you to do things that there was a high risk of injuring yourself, is not ethical nor appropriate.

    The other two things that were NOT against the law, and can sometimes be expected when you are in a work situation.

    1) Overtime -- this is not against the law. If it takes longer to do the job, that is not their problem. It is your responsibility to make sure that you're able to fill your time in appropriately.

    2) Transportation -- is NOT the responsibility of the company to make sure that your transportation is figured out. You're responsible for getting there. There are a lot of ways that you would be able to get into work: either by bus, foot, bicycle, or by asking a friend for a ride. I know that this is just work experience, but they are trying to make the situation as real as possible.

    When you get a regular job, they won't pick you up, and they won't care about how you get to work, as long as you get to work on time.Work Experience breaking the law?Yeh that is very wrong. I would tell your work experience person at your school! They are laws and stuff that the employers have to follow. I was on work experience today to and my employer went through some of the saftey stuff but my isn't as practical as yours by the sounds! Good LuckWork Experience breaking the law?I'm not sure what 'law' you think was broken? No health and safety orientation was foolish on their part, but as long as they were suitably supervising you, you should have been perfectly safe. Doing electrical work? That's okay too, as long as a licensed electrician was overseeing the work.

    Telling you you had to get to work yourself? Well, that is between you and the work experience coordinator at your school.

    This doesn't sound like a well run or professional outfit, but I doubt they broke any laws overtly. I'd speak with your coordinator and see what they say.

    How much is it to fix pistons?

    I have a bit of a problem. today i was going to do an oil change when right when i got off the free way my car had made this clanking sound like something was hitting it. i hadnt been able to change the oil in like 2 weeks after the car had the oil change light on so i knew that it had to b the oil, lucky when i got out of freeway i saw an oil repair shop. i got an oil change and it was good but after i started moving the car again it made another clanking noise which im assuming it is a piston clap i looked it up on youtube and for sure its the same noise. now im wondering how much it would cost to fix it. my father keeps on talking about getting the rings fixed and something about grinding it i didnt quite understand him. also when i got out of the shop i had to drive it over to my house thinking it might brake down because when i was driving over it was making the clapping noise. is it possible to still drive it like that for like 2 days max? to me that question sounds kind of dumb but eh you never know.How much is it to fix pistons?Sounds like you ran the engine with no oil and you spun a crank bearing. This is big bucks if it is the problem. The engine gets removed , drop the oil pan, unbolt the main bearing caps and remove and replace the bearings. Also need to send the crank out to be cut because of scoring. can you say buy a new motor???

    maybe this will help.... www.car-part.com and look for a replacement engine.

    good luck....How much is it to fix pistons?You ran the engine with no oil. Ballgames over. When the light comes on you must add oil immediately. You need a new engine rebuilding would cost just as much. Your engine is fried.How much is it to fix pistons?ask a mechanic to check your cam.

    if your pistons are bad, the engine will drastically loose power, emit smoke and might not even run.How much is it to fix pistons?Pistons? im guessing you mean one of the cylinders is having one of a vast variety of problems - This isn't really something anyone is going to be able to tell you online without taking a look (or give you an accurate estimate)

    If the general feel of the car is more %26quot;lumpy%26quot; and it's making an awful banging noise, but it still drives, as you mentioned, it %26quot;might%26quot; be fixable, otherwise sod knows - i'd have though one of the cylinders %26quot;breaking%26quot;, or in any way going wrong would be a major problem, but i couldn't really tell what you meant from what you asked. Not sure if you meant in your question also it was burning oil ridiculously fast or leaking or something, or even if you thought there was a problem with the gearbox as you mentioned grinding.

    My advice would be get it to a garage and get a proper estimate.How much is it to fix pistons?I don't think you are hearing piston slap. More like a rod knocking. Piston slap generally occurs after a long period of time and the cylinders get worn to an oval shape. The sound is the still round piston rocking back and forth in the too loose hole. Rod knock occurs from rod bearing damage/failure and usually happens from running low on oil or over-revving the engine.

    Either way, you are looking at a complete engine rebuild or a replacement engine. there is a reason cars have these lights on them people, pay attention to them.
